Nature Thief is four young humans' inquiry into the values of the natural and manmade world.  Through haunted lyrics and haunting melodies, they steal inspiration from the corners of the earth.  Melodic fingerpicking often gives way to heavy guitar riffs; ambient synth pads are replaced by driving bass lines.  Their sound embodies "a flowing, chimerical embrace of harmony-laden dream-pop and the proggier elements of British-Isles-informed folk." (Ned Lannamann, Portland Mercury) Think: the complexity and emotional heft of Deerhunter or Dirty Projectors meets the intimate yet strong vocal quality of Jenny Lewis or Björk.  Nature Thief encourages their audience to dance, sway, and think about the world's most prevalent dichotomies.

Hailing from 2 opposite corners of the country, the four members of the band can all cite vastly different influences.  From drummer Justin Chase's jazz background to synthesizer/sampler player Charlie Bow's affinity for hip hop, Nature Thief gives nods to many musical styles.

Nature Thief presents an impressive live show, which centers on frontwoman Emma Browne's powerful vocals, bassist Carl LaRue's enchanting harmonies, and a full sound that ranges from ethereal and dreamy to psychedelic and crunchy.  At all times, it is dramatic and expressive as the passion that each member feels comes through in its own way.
